MCP

A short note on where the Model Context Protocol fits.

A connection layer around APIs

MCP is essentially a layer that leverages APIs. An MCP server advertises to a model how it can connect to, or request resources from, an integrated system. The API still sits in the middle.

MCP is useful for fast, easy connection. For high-volume work, direct APIs are generally more cost effective.
